Snooker legend Jimmy White helps the London Irish Ward appeal hit £500,000!

Fundraising for the new London Irish Ward at RNOH Stanmore passed the £½ million mark on 2 March, thanks to a successful fundraising event featuring snooker legend Jimmy ‘The Whirlwind’ White.

Kelly’s Bar in Hendon was the venue for a ‘Challenge Jimmy White Pool Evening’, which gave RNOH supporters the opportunity of playing a frame of pool against one of snookers all-time legends.

The referee for the evening was former snooker star John Virgo, and among those taking on The Whirlwind was Professor Tim Briggs (pictured below), the RNOH's Director of Clinical Strategy and External Relations, who managed to win his frame.

The appeal to build and fit out the London Irish Ward was launched in June 2016, and will see a new 32-bed acute ward, fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, being created.

The ward will allow the hospital to extend and improve its vital and lifesaving services to more people than ever before.

Our warmest thanks to Jimmy, John, Tim Kelly, who is leading the London Irish Appeal, and everyone else who came along to support the event!
