Pop music sensation Charlie Brown to open 11th annual Buttercup Walk

Posted by Sam Bowie on 13 June 2013

We are delighted to announce that chart topping singer-songwriter Charlie Brown will officially open The Buttercup Walk on Sunday 23 June 2013.

The London-based songwriter turned singer reached number seven in the UK charts earlier this year with his massive hit single, ‘On My Way’, and will also be supporting JLS, Justin Timberlake and Rita Ora later this year.

Fresh from his recent performance at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball where he sang alongside stars including Robbie Williams, Taylor Swift and Jessie J, Charlie said he was, ‘enormously excited’ to be visiting the RNOH to help raise awareness and funds for their life-changing work.

He said, ‘I am honoured to be asked to open the Buttercup Walk, which is the flagship fundraising event for the RNOH.  It’s inspiring to see so many patients past and present taking part, and I’m also looking forward to a really fun day out.’

Charlie will officially start the walk at 12.00pm.Buttercup Walk 2012

Charlie has caused a huge sensation in the pop world in recent weeks, but he has been a successful songwriter for some time, penning hits for artists including The Script, Frank Ocean and Jay Sean.  He also wrote a song which ended up in the soundtrack for the film adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

The Buttercup Walk is one mile long and takes place throughout the grounds of the RNOH's Stanmore site.  It is ideal for all the family and is just one part of a fantastic day out.  The walk is open to everyone and all or part of the course can be completed at the participant’s own pace and in their own way, even in a wheelchair.  Other attractions on the day include children’s rides, stalls, great food and live music.  It is not too late to sign up to enter the walk – you can enter here!
