Patients travelling to and from surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore are enjoying a calmer and more welcoming environment thanks to a major artwork project funded by RNOH Charity. Beautiful designs featuring scenes from nature now transform the corridors leading to the operating theatres, creating uplifting spaces along a key part of the patient journey.

Around 50 patients pass along these clinical corridors to surgery every day. Previously, the walls were a bare white. Now, the new artwork provides colour, interest and a welcome distraction at what can often be an anxious time, helping to create a more reassuring hospital experience for patients of all ages.
The project was developed with input from patients and staff, and reflects the growing recognition of the positive role that art and environment can play in healthcare settings. Improvements to the hospital environment like this are not possible with the hospital’s NHS budget and are only achievable through charitable support.

RNOH Charity CEO Rosie Stolarski said: "Travelling to theatre can be an anxious time, whether you're a child or an adult. These wonderful artworks help create a more welcoming and reassuring environment at an important point in a patient's journey through the hospital. We're very proud to have funded this project and incredibly grateful to our supporters, whose generosity continues to make enhancements like this possible for RNOH patients."
The installation is part of RNOH Charity's commitment to enhancing the patient experience and funding projects that go beyond what the NHS could normally provide, helping make time in hospital a little easier for patients and their families. Thank you to everyone who support us.
