Our Appeal Ambassadors

A number of remarkable people are official Ambassadors for the RNOH Charity’s Redevelopment Appeal:

Kylie Grimes

Kylie was injured in a swimming pool accident when she was just 18 years old. The accident left her a complete tetraplegic. Prior to her accident Kylie had been a successful sportswoman, representing her county at athletics and netball, and competing at national level in a number of equestrian events. After her injury Kylie started playing wheelchair rugby, and in 2011 was selected to join the GB squad. She went on to win a silver medal at the European Championships and came fifth at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

David Holmes

David is a former actor and stuntman who is best known for his work as Daniel Radcliffe’s long-time stunt double in the Harry Potter film series. David sustained an acute spinal injury on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which left him unlikely to walk again. He was subsequently treated at the RNOH.

Phil Packer MBE MA(Ed) MA FRSA

Phil suffered severe spinal cord injuries in 2008 whilst serving on operational duty with Her Majesty’s Forces. After being treated at the RNOH’s Spinal Cord Injury Centre, he went on to complete a number of remarkable physical challenges, and subsequently won several high profile awards, including the Helen Rollason Award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards and "Fundraiser of the Year" at the Pride of Britain Awards.

Naomi Riches MBE

Naomi, who is visually impaired, has achieved remarkable athletic success. She joined the Great Britain para-rowing squad in 2004, and just three months later took her first gold medal at the World Championships, competing in the Legs, Trunks and Arms Mixed Four.  Since then she has won a further four World Championship gold medals, and a gold in the 2012 London Paralympics.

Oliver Webb

Oliver is a successful British auto racing driver. His many honours include: 2004 Karting Champion, 2007 Formula BMW Scholarship winner, 2010 Formula 3 championship 3rd position, 2014 European Le Mans Series Champion, and 2015 Dubai 24 hour Champion.

Max Whitlock

Max is one of the most successful gymnasts Britain has ever produced. He won the pommel horse bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics; he has been European champion on both floor and pommel horse; in 2014 he won the silver medal in the all-around competition at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships; and at the 2015 Championships, he became the first British man ever to win a World Championship gold medal, with a score of 16.133 on the pommel horse.
